Seeking Peace

Updated: Mar 31, 2022

Seeking peace has been a quest of mine for many years! God's peace reigning in my heart is unlike anything I've ever experienced before. But just as this verse in 1 Peter 3:10-12 says, we have to SEEK it and PURSUE it!

God's eyes are on us and when we set our hearts to do HIS will, He's right there beside us - above us - around us - INSIDE us - helping us, every step of the way.

But there's a price to pay. We have to give up the evil in our hearts - submit it to the Almighty - REPENT (includes a change of mind and a contrite spirit). We have to stop speaking evil and deceit; and do good! Oh, that cursed tongue - it always reveals the heart.

My good friend Maria, once noted that our tongue lies between our brain (thought center) and our heart (well-spring of our life). If we have evil in our heart (and we all do!) and it makes it's way to our thoughts - we vomit it - out of the mouth it SPEWS and lands all over everyone around us! (Sorry if the graphic offends - those are my input - Maria was much more delicate in her delivery LOL!)

Without God as the preeminence in our heart AND mind - nothing good comes out of it!

I encourage all my friends and family - SEEK PEACE - PURSUE PEACE! Sacrificing relationships to prove you're right - well folks - everyone loses, in the end.

For the believer, remember, God is watching and He TURNS HIS FACE AWAY from those who do evil. While you may think you're right - you're NOT! - if the cost of you proving that, is a lost relationship with someone you say you love.

As the verse promises - if you want to see good days, STOP the ugly stuff.

1 Peter 3:10-12 For "He who would love life and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit. Let him turn away from evil and do good; let him SEEK PEACE AND PURSUE IT! For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil."

God bless, Allison Pelphrey
